It's common for the DAS (Immobilizer unit) to fail in Mercedes SLK cars, R170 chassis manufactured from 1996-2004. When this happens, the vehicle is immobilized and usually, ' START ERROR' is displayed in place of the odometer in the instrument cluster.  To address this issue, we developed a solution that eliminates the DAS functionality, enabling the vehicle to start with any cut key, which has proven to be the best solution for this issue.

The DAS control unit is located behind the instrument cluster, remove the cluster to remove the unit:

 

 

 

 

The ECU ( Engine Control Unit) is located in the passenger side compartment under the hood, depending on your model, you will have an ME2.0 or SIM4LK (SLK230 - M111 engine) or ME2.8 (SLK320, SLK32 AMG - M112 engine) Both are supported!
